Eligibility Requirements

One of the following forms of valid photo I.D. that is not expired: 

If the photo I.D. does not include your address, include a separate document to validate this information

   Government issued identification card

   Passports from any country

   Any state driver's license

   Any state or city identification card

   METRO identification card

Parent/Guardian must be prepared to provide one of the following:

   School identification card

   Child's birth certificate

   Child's immunization record

When applying in-person, parent/guardian must sign applications for minors under 18. If the child is not present then parent must be prepared to provide child's current identification. For details about acceptable alternative forms of identification, you may call us at (832) 393 - 2222.

Non-residents may obtain a library card for $40 annually or $20 for 6 months. Fees can be paid online or by check or money order made out to City of Houston.

Borrowing from more than 500 participating libraries across the state. Must be:

   City of Houston resident

   HPL MY Link cardholder of at least 6 months and in good standing
