Library Card Sign-up Month Contest

Houston Public Library (HPL) is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month by encouraging Houstonians to sign up for a MYLink card and posting a photo with their card on social media from September 1 – October 4, 2024, to be entered into a drawing to win a generator.

The grand prize winner will win a generator, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive power banks.

To be eligible to win applicants must:

• Become a new cardholder.
• Follow, Share, and Tag the Houston Public Library on Facebook, X (@houstonlibrary) or Instagram (@houstonpubliclibrary).
• Post a photo with the new library card, using #MYLink.

Post(s) Requirements:

• Must include the hashtag #MYLink.
• Photo must be posted between September 1 and October 4, 2024.
• Must be a public post.

In addition:

• Contest is limited to in-state residents only
• All federal, state, and local taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prize are solely the responsibility of the winner.

The contest is open to all participants except employees, contractors, and volunteers of City of Houston, as well as their immediate family members (spouses, parents, siblings, and children).

For the purposes of this contest, "staff" includes any individual who is currently employed by, contracted with, or volunteering for City of Houston, regardless of their position or role.

Immediate family members of staff, including spouses, parents, siblings, and children, are also ineligible to participate in the contest. This includes any individuals residing in the same household as the staff member.

Entries will be collected, reviewed, and drawn by Houston Public Library’s Communications and Library Material Services teams. Winner(s) will be contacted via a direct message from one of HPL’s official social media handles: @houstonpubliclibrary on Instagram, or @houstonlibrary on Facebook and X.

If the selected winner does not claim their prize within 10 business days of being notified, the prize will be forfeited. In the event of a forfeiture, a new winner will be drawn. The redraw process will continue until an eligible winner claims the prize.

Submissions must not contain any material that constitutes copyright or license infringement. Submissions must not contain material or language that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, defamatory, or slanderous. Houston Public Library Staff are not eligible to win the campaign contest prizes.

The Houston Public Library’s National Library Card Sign Up Month Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.), or Twitter. By entering the Houston Public Library’s National Library Card Sign Up Month Contest, a contestant releases Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter from any and all liability, loss or damages a contestant may suffer as a result of participation in the contest.
