This is a special opportunity for our customers to see, touch, and learn about some of our favorite treasures in the collection.

HMRC Author Talk: Dr. Leandra Zarnow - Battling Bella: The Protest Politics of Bella Abzug
Dr. Leandra Zarnow, of the University of Houston History Department, will visit HMRC to discuss her newly released biography of New York’s Bella Abzug, chair of the 1977 National Women's Conference. With a fiery rhetorical style forged in the 1960s antiwar movement, Abzug vigorously promoted gender parity, economic justice, and the need to “bring Congress back to the people.” This deeply researched political biography highlights how, as 1960s radicalism moved protest into electoral politics, Abzug drew fire from establishment politicians across the political spectrum—but also inspired a generation of women.
HMRC Pops Up! MAKING IT: Creative Women in Houston
From painters to architects to musicians, Houston women have created work reflecting their lives and their city. Join us for this one-night-only exhibit to learn more about the women behind the lens, on the stage, and in the studio. This pop-up exhibit will feature photographs, letters, artwork, and an oral history listening station--all materials from HMRC's own collections. This program is a part of HMRC's pop-up exhibit series, HMRC Pops Up!
