Post-Impression features garments from Fashion Fusion, an annual competition presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the award-winning Fashion Design program at Houston Community College. This year, HCC students and alumni designed original outfits inspired by the Museum’s recent exhibition, Vincent van Gogh: His Life in Art. The students and alumni entered their designs into one of four categories inspired by major periods of Van Gogh’s life and career: inception, awakening, euphoria, and melancholy.

Visual Poetry
An Original Art Exhibit by Mark Castillo
July – August 2019
Central Library | 1st Floor Gallery
Visual Poetry is an exhibit inspired by the artistic use of language, time and storytelling of the peoples of ancient Mesoamerica, specifically the ancient Mayans. Mark Castillo uses ancient Mayan hieroglyphs (or epigraphy) to showcase his artistic talent. While Mayan symbolism is used, the symbols function as aesthetic objects rather than being the subject of the art.
About the Artist
Mark Castillo is a local artist. He is a graduate of Houston Community College (Central Campus) with an Associates degree in liberal arts. His work has been shown at the HCC Central Campus.
This show of artwork is funded by the City of Houston in association with the Houston Arts Alliance.
