Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week: Banning Books Silences Stories
September 23 - September 29, 2018

We are bringing awareness to Banned Books by showcasing books that have been banned, but are in our catalog. Banned Books have been targeted with removal or restricted use in libraries and schools. By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship. Check out these books and others at your local HPL!

This year's theme is "Banning Books Silences Stories".  Have you read any of these popular Banned Books?

The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Goosebumps (Series) by R.L. Stine
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
