Jelly Belly Schmelly Show: Balloon Pop Art Workshop
Learn the basics in balloon art creation! Participants will make a balloon sword, a balloon dog, balloon flower and balloon hat. Ages 8+.

Jelly Belly Schmelly Show: The World of Magical Bubbles

HPL Digizine Project
Calling tweens and teens! Instructors from Writers in the Schools will teach participants how to create an original zine (independent magazine). Individual pages from teen-produced zines will be scanned and gathered together into the first ever HPL Digizine Project! Space is limited. Please contact your library for details. Ages 9-18.

Spilled Ink Teen Writing Contest
July 1, 2019 - September 30, 2019

Channel your imagination into an original short story or poem for a chance to win amazing prizes! Subjects for your short story or poem are limited only by your imagination. Entries will be judged on originality, use of language and technical skill. You can submit to both categories – short story and poetry. All entries must adhere to contest rules and deadlines.

Explore languages, geography and cultures of Africa through participation in songs, drumming and dance led by professional dancer Mukomi Bandele. Ages 5-12.

Family Fun!
Parents and caregivers can read this summer, too. Families (1 adult + 1 youth) who complete SRP will win 1 ticket to enter into the family prize drawing of their choice. Adults will receive a Summer Reading for Grownups sticker and a Buy-One-Get-One coupon for a Whataburger Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit just for registering for the program!  In order to qualify, the child must complete the 30 day level and the adult must write 2 reviews (1 for an item read for the adult’s enjoyment and 1 for a youth item read with their child).
