Introduction to Oral History

The term “oral history” is used a lot in popular culture, but what exactly is it? Is oral history and StoryCorps the same thing?  Is an interview an oral history?  Thinking about starting an oral history project, but don’t know where to begin?  This presentation will be an overview of the practice of oral history, from idea to finished product.  It will cover oral history concepts and best practices and describe specifics in the oral history process.  Presenters are oral history archivists Abra Schnur from the Houston Metropolitan Research Center and Valerie Wade from the African American Library at the Gregory School. Reservations required, please call 832-393-2600.
