Celeste Diaz photographs street art, architecture, and the mundane. What started out as a way to “clear her head” has turned into a dedicated hobby of walking through the city and capturing snapshots. She has found an identity connected with Houston and her point of view as a photographer.
Celeste Diaz currently works as an Administrative Associate for the Houston Public Library, and has been with HPL since 2008. She was born in the Philippines and moved to Houston with her family in 1988. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Art History. Celeste has volunteered at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Menil Collection and served as a curatorial intern at the Blaffer Gallery during her senior year of college. She has contributed some of her photos on HPL’s social media and has been featured on Black & White Houston Community. She credits her love for art to Mr. Charles Lyngar, her high school French teacher. Her favorite photographers are Eugene Atget, Cindy Sherman, and Lee Friedlander.
