Pro Tip: Creating Lists in the Catalog

From time to time, you may want to create a reading list similar to the concept of a “wishlist” when we shop online. These lists help you keep track of what you have read and what you would like to read in the coming weeks, or possibly several months, and they are not difficult to create.

To start creating one, follow these prompts as shown below:

1. Log in to your account using the My Account link in the top right corner of the website.

2. Type in the title, author, or subject term you would like to search for. Click on SEARCH when you are done to see the results.

3. Select the items (e.g. books, multimedia, reference) you are interested in adding to your list by checking the appropriate boxes as shown below.

Remember: The Select All from the “Select an Action” list as shown above only selects the items shown on the page, NOT the entire search result list. So, if you would like to select other items, make sure to go to each of the pages, make your selections to add them to your list!

4. The items will now be added to a “Temporary List” on your library account when you log in. To organize them to specific lists, click on the “My Lists” link next to My Account as shown below.

5. If there are no lists previously created, the items will be added to the Temporary List, but feel free to create a new list and move the items from the Temporary List to the chosen list. Click the icon with the plus sign as shown on the right, and type in the name of the new list you would like to create.

6. Feel free to rearrange the order of your lists. The top one is your default list, and all your items will be added to that list automatically when you select the "add to list" option.

If you want the item to be moved to a different list, click on the item, and use the “Select an Action” drop down menu to select the Move option to move your item(s) to another list, as shown below.

Sound confusing? Don’t worry; we have friendly librarians more than happy to help you out. Feel free to call us at 832-393-1313 or stop by one of the libraries and ask! After hours? Feel free to chat!
